Models completed during 2023

This year has been my most productive to date,with Fourteen projects being completed. It's been full of Hurricane's and Sturmgeshutz, and M113's. And a few other projects scattered throughout the year. So here are the completed projects. 

Airfix 1/72 Hawker Hurricane Mk.I finished in the markings of 615 Sqn. L1592 is the oldest Hurricane in preservation, and she now resides at the Science Museum in London.

Tamiya 1/35 StuG III Ausf.G finished as an early vehicle on the Eastern Front in 1943.

Airfix 1/72 Avro Shackleton MR.2 finished as one of the airframes crewed by my Grandfather while on 38 Sqn. The aircraft is depicted as she was in 1956 in the overall Grey scheme.

Rye Field Model 1/35 Panther Ausf.F first completion of 2022

I started this on December 8, 2021, and was completed yesterday. I didn't want to do the tank with the usual 7.5cm KwK 42, so did it as the proposed Krupp 8.8cm KwK 43 which had in my parts box. Camouflage scheme is one that was being applied at the M.A.N. factory at the end of the War. 

Airfix 1/72 Avro Lancaster

Finished this yesterday. The model depicts Avro Lancaster B.Mk.I RF128, which was built at Armstrong Whitworth Aircraft. RF128 was taken on strength by 424 (Tiger) Sqn of 6 (RCAF) Group Bomber Command. RF128 wears nose art painted by LAC Matthew C. Ferguson (who also painted nose art on other aircraft in the squadron) christened "Victorious Virgin". RF128 was flown by F/Lt. J.F. Thomas RCAF and crew, who carried out the squadron's 2000th operation on Heide Oil Refinery on March 20/21, 1945. So onto the model, I was going to do the bomb door's open, but the door retraction jacks snapped (this was the first time it happened), so decided to do the door's closed. I also scratchbuilt a camera frame to hold the F.24 camera in the nose. I also drilled out the windows in the escape hatches as Airfix mould them solid. I also drilled out the camera port under the forward fuselage, the escape hatches and camera port were both filled with PVA glue, which dried clear. I've also fitted the correct bomb aimer's blister with "Z" equipment as per images of the actual aircraft. Now on to the images. The white in the exhaust staining depicts Lead deposits 

Revell 1/72 B-17G-30 "Nine-O-Nine" clears the Bench 14/08/2021

She's finally done, all based on my own research. So the model is my interpretation of Boeing B-17G-30 42-13909 "Nine-O-Nine" of the 323rd Bombardment Squadron of the 91st Bombardment Group "The Ragged Irregulars" of the Eighth Army Air Force, based at Bassingbourn. The Red wingtips and empennage denotes the 1st Air Division of the 1st Combat Wing. "Nine-O-Nine" completed 140 missions (18 of these to Berlin), also three Luftwaffe fighter's were claimed by her gunner's. "Nine-O-Nine" was returned back to the United States on June 11,1945 and was then sent to the RFC (Reconstruction Finance Corporation) at Kingman in Arizona and was sold for scrap on December 7, 1945.

Tamiya 1/35 Panther Ausf.G

The base kit is the Tamiya Late Panther Ausf.G kit. And because I didn't want multiple's of Panther tanks sitting on my shelf due to space limitations, I decided to put three Tanks into one model with help from the spares bin. So it has Infrared, extra aerials of a Command tank, and spare wheel holders on the Turret. The colour scheme is based on one being applied at the Factories towards the end of the War. I've also included images of just two of the many references I have on Panther's 

Revell 1/72 B-17G Flying Fotress Build 12/06/2021

The interior colours are now applied in the Fuselage of the B-17. And the cockpit area is painted and I've painted the forward area silver and the radio room bulkhead silver to replicate the unpainted areas of the aircraft.
